Hashbrowns

  Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 2 large potatoes
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 1 brown onions, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Directions

Step 1

Peel and grate potatoes and place the grated potato in a bowl of water to remove the starch. Let it sit for 10 mins.

Step 2

Drain the grated potatoes in a colander. Place potatoes in a clean cloth and squeeze until all excess water is removed.

Step 3

Mix the grated potatoes, chopped onions, salt and flour. Make patties with your hands.

Step 4

Heat oil in a frypan on medium to high heat (enough to cover the bottom). Add patties & fry for a couple of minutes on each side until golden brown. Be careful not to flip them too early, they need to be cooked on the bottom before flipping.

Step 5

Remove hashbrowns from pan & drain off excess oil on paper towel.

Step 6

Serve immediately

You can add garlic or dried herbs to the potato mix to add flavour. Great served with guacamole!
